Dance Prelude

Dedicated to the Central Missouri State University Concert Band under the direction of Dr. Russell Coleman. It was commissioned by the Epsilon Gamma Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha at CMSU. The premiere was on April 25, 1978 with Claude T. Smith conducting. “Dance Prelude” develops intricate rhythmic patterns and creates a unique harmonic texture through unusual symphonic band scoring. This work is not only exciting and spectacular for the performer but also for the audience.
