Oxford Point Overture

Subtitled “A Festival Fanfare Selection” opens dramatically and then gracefully changes into an andante section and later returns to a powerful ending. Some parts are cross-cued with 7/8 bars, quarter-note triplets, accents off the beat and driving eighth notes. All of these add to the intensity of this overture. The percussion parts require 5 players and a solo opportunity is given to the trumpet for eight measures. This is a favorite for middle level bands!
