Phil Wood
Phil Wood, retired music educator, has had a varied teaching career that has included every level from elementary through college. He received the BS and MA degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia, then began his teaching career in Columbia as band director at West Junior High School. After serving as trombonist with the 399th Army Band, he returned to Columbia as band director at Rock Bridge High School. His next position was as Coordinator of Elementary Instrumental Music for Columbia Public Schools. After a brief retirement period, he joined the music faculty at Lincoln University
In Jefferson City teaching trombone and music theory. During the summers, he directed Junior High Bands for the Dorian Music Camp at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. He also served as director and arranger for the Boone County Bassoon Band which performed throughout the US. Currently, he is trombonist with the Columbia Community Band.
