Intrada: Adoration and Praise
Commissioned by the Industria High School Band, Vanderbuilt, TX, J.H. Castellano, conductor. This work is an impressive set of variations on the hymn tune “Praise to the Lord, The Almighty”. The opening statement is very majestic, followed by challenging variations. It concludes with an optional antiphonal brass ensemble during the dramatic finale. This work is an exceptional choice for concert finales and impressive ceremonies.

I played this in 8th grade at Interlochen in the 80s. I loved the piece then, and love it now. It’s a great blend of a great tune and variations, and highlighting the strengths of various sections. Plus the antiphonal brass at the end is chill-inducing.
