Fanfare, Ballad and Jubilee

Commissioned by Beta Theta Chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon, Xi Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha, the Tennessee Tech. Fine Arts Foundation and the Tennessee Tech. Department of Music. The premiere of this work was on February 19, 1983 by the Tennessee Tech. Wind Ensemble at the Tennessee Tech. University 20thAnniversary Annual Composers Festival in Cookeville, TN with Claude T. Smith conducting. This work begins with a dramatic fanfare, followed by the ballad featuring the clarinet section with solo opportunities for the oboe, trumpet, flute, bassoon and baritone. The final portion is an allegro vivace in alla breve which calls on the resources of the entire ensemble. This work is recommended for fine high school and college ensembles.
