Fanfare, Ballad and Jubilee (Gr. 4+)
was commissioned by Beta Theta Chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon, Xi Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha, the Tennessee Tech. Fine Arts Foundation and the Tennessee Tech. Department of Music. The premiere of this work was on February 19, 1983 by the Tennessee Tech. Wind Ensemble at the Tennessee Tech. University 20th Anniversary Annual Composers Festival in Cookeville, TN with Claude T. Smith conducting. This work begins with a dramatic fanfare, followed by the ballad featuring the clarinet section with solo opportunities for the oboe, trumpet, flute, bassoon and baritone. The final portion is an allegro vivace in alla breve which calls on the resources of the entire ensemble. This work is recommended for fine high school and college ensembles.

Festive Proclamation (Gr. 4-)
was commissioned by the Merrillville IN High School Symphonic Band Susan A. Williams, conductor. Its premiere performance was February 7, 1984 by the Merrillville, IN High School Symphonic Band and was originally entitled "Festive Episode". This overture begins triumphantly and offers opportunities for trumpets, horns, percussion, clarinets, trombones and saxophones to be featured. This is a sure contest selection for the high school level.

was written for the Air Force Academy High School Symphonic Band, U. S. A. F. Academy, Colorado, Larry Perkins, conductor. This work is based on triumphant fanfares in the introduction and powerfully unfolds into a rich hymn setting.

Gala XXV: A Symphonic Overture (Gr. 4)
was commissioned by the California Band Directors Association to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the All-State Honor Band. The premiere performance was on February 21, 1982 in Hayward, California. Claude T. Smith was conducting. This work presents two principal themes which develop with the use of varying accompaniments, ensemble timbres, rhythmic techniques and solo passages. This jubilant composition is very challenging and powerful in contest use.

was commissioned by the friends of L.W. Muir in his memory. Mr. Muir was a retail music dealer in Norton, KS. The premiere performance was on July 21, 1979 by the Kansas Intercollegiate Band in Hutchison, KS with Neil Humfeld, conducting. This work, originally entitled "L.W. Muir March", is a dynamic and inventive piece set in a traditional march style.

was commissioned by the Scottsbluff Nebraska Public School Band Department in 1985, Georgene Diers and Dean Maxwell, directors. This chorale prelude highlights long tones, dynamic contrasts and has flowing melodic lines. This work is an effective rehearsal exercise or an asset to any concert.
